Owner/ Creative Superwoman
Known for her light-hearted artwork, full of fun stick figures donning red sneakers and joy-filled painting parties, Kyia Watkins is an artist on a mission to empower others to embrace & celebrate their lives one PEACE at a time.
Her work evokes joy and happiness in its viewers, drawing them in to examine the detail in each picture, while allowing them the space to imagine themselves in the piece.
Kyia draws inspiration from every peace of everyday life…from the sounds, colors and cultures of Boston’s South End, where she grew up with her sister and mother…To the chatter and laughter during the 6am bus rides with her best friend, to Sharon, MA where she attended school…From reading wedding vows to her high school sweetheart to spotting a purple flower petal on the concrete on the way to the train. Through life’s experiences, she has come to realize that,” The more we really open our minds and hearts to embrace and celebrate the little things, the more peace we invite into our lives and in the lives of those around us. Even in the midst of the struggle, we have the choice to create our own peace.”
These tiny peaces of Love, Laughter and Peace are the foundation for every “peace” of artwork Kyia creates.
Kyia’s work is showcased in numerous establishments in the Massachusetts area and in private collections in the US and abroad. Over 400 people have created canvas and wineglass painted masterPEACES at her Paint Your Peace Painting Parties. She lives in Boston, Massachusetts with her husband and children who are a constant influence in her work.
“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” Robert Brault
